How to write a good Muse prompt

Agent AI works best when it does not have to guess. A strong Muse instruction answers five questions: what is the goal, what background matters, what are the limits, what may be done without asking, and what should the answer look like.

  1. 1

Pick a task type so Muse knows the playbook: travel, shopping, email, calendar, research, productivity, personal or other.

  2. 2

Describe your goal in one or two sentences — what done looks like.

  3. 3

Add context and constraints: budget, dates, location, preferences, restrictions.

  4. 4

Choose approval rules for anything sensitive (purchases, emails, forms, irreversible changes).

  5. 5

Pick an output format, generate the prompt, copy it, and paste it into Muse.

Example output

Choosing the Travel task type with a Tokyo trip goal, a budget constraint and purchase-approval turned on produces an instruction like this:

Goal:
Plan a five-day trip to Tokyo for two people.

Context:
We like food markets, quiet neighborhoods and walking. First time in Japan.

Requirements:
October 3–7. Keep hotel costs under $180 per night.
Stay near a train station. Prefer hotels rated 4.3 or higher.

Actions:
Find the best options, compare at least three, and put together
a clear plan I can review.

Approval:
Do not purchase or book anything until I approve.
Do not make irreversible changes. If an action cannot be undone, ask me first.

Output:
Give me a step-by-step plan I can follow, in order, with time estimates.

Prompt Generator FAQ

Does this tool send my prompt to Muse?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser and produces a text instruction. You copy the result and paste it into Muse yourself. MuseTask does not connect to Muse or act on your behalf.

What makes a good Muse prompt?

A good prompt states the goal, the context Muse should know, any constraints (budget, dates, location, preferences), which actions require your approval, and the output format you want. The generator structures all five parts for you.

Why does the prompt include approval rules?

Muse is an agent: it can take actions on your behalf. Telling it up front which actions need your approval — purchases, emails, form submissions, anything irreversible — keeps you in control and avoids unwanted actions.

Is the prompt generator free?

Yes. The MuseTask prompt generator is free, requires no account, and nothing you type is stored on our servers — all generation happens in your browser.
